Homelessness Studies
The Pathways Homeless Census and Survey models have been recognized by HUD as examples to follow if you want to better understand the size, characteristics and needs of your community's homeless population. Communities use the data collected from these projects to;
- plan and raise funds for services
- increase public awareness of homelessness
- measure effectiveness of homelessness initiatives
The Homeless Census and Homeless Survey are individual projects, which together provide a comprehensive view of a community’s homeless population.
The planning and implementation of a Homeless Census project includes:
- Assessment of the community’s characteristics and resources
- Identification and recruitment of community stakeholders
- Community outreach and public education to increase participation
- Development of methodology and processes
- Guidance on map creation and production
- Provision of an on-line data collection system
- Data analysis and reporting
Pathways' research team is also highly familiar with analysis of HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) data and other other poverty and community planning and development issues.
